ANTISCIA Jul/2015

Reflections / Shadows / Symmetries  =  Antiscia

Planets in antiscia and contra-antiscia reflect each other across the cardinal axis. This axis is formed by the four seasonal turning points: the zero degree entry point of each cardinal sign. The cardinal axis is essentially the node of the Sun and is a point we all share. It is the intersection of two Great Circles: the ecliptic, which is the sun's path (i.e., the tropical zodiac), and the earth's equator. Planets connect in antiscia when they reflect or mirror one another across this axis. Like a planetary statement made by two planets in aspect or conjunction, planets in antiscia make a terrestrial (or mundane) statement: a statement for the world which is relevant for everyone. Therefore planets in antiscia can provide insight into the energy of the day, as well as help to enrich your natal and dynamic chart delineations. More on antiscia here...

The longstanding URANUS NEPTUNE contra-antiscia is exact as of July 4th. But it remains with just minutes of one degree orb for the entire month of July. On the 4th however we also see Mercury Mars in antiscia (hopefully this does not speak to a bunch of blown off fingers here in the US).  :-O

Also of note, at the start of the month Mars is at the bendings (exactly square the nodes).

For help with interpretation of the pairs listed below please refer to a book like The Combination of Stellar Influences by Reinhold Ebertin, or Alfred Witte's Rules For Planetary Pictures. There is also a nice online resource for planetary pairs and midpoints by John Sandbach.

To use the list of antiscia below, simply blend the meanings of planets in combination.

  • Bold dates indicate a particular planetary expression is exact (within 10 minutes of arc).
  • Dates showing one planet indicate its ingress onto the cardinal axis (meaning it's at zero cardinal or fifteen degrees fixed (the midpoint), and ought to feature prominently that day).
  • Those with a (c) indicate contra-antiscia - the symmetrical arrangement around the Aries/Libra axis.

Lunar conjunctions (not antiscia) are bracketed [ ] - this is for a quick and easy reference!

Solstice on the cardinal axis

Sun = Uranus NeptunE   (See this on the 90 degree dial below)

The longstanding URANUS NEPTUNE contra-antiscia approaches perfection by the end of this month. Neptune stations retrograde on June 11/12th at 9°49' Pisces (around the same time Mercury stations direct). Soon after, about halfway through the month, the pair's (UR NE) midpoint is within a ten minute orb - and is within one minute of arc on the last day of June. This means every time a planet comes to the Aries Point (including zero degrees Cancer, and the solstice), it will pick up and illuminate its otherworldly meaning. This also means whenever there is a planetary pair in antiscia (as in the list below) they form a completed planetary picture with the UR NE combo.

For help with interpretation of these pairs and midpoints, refer to a book like The Combination of Stellar Influences, by Reinhold Ebertin, or Alfred Witte's, Rules For Planetary Pictures. John Sandbach also has a nice online resource for midpoints.

URANUS NEPTUNE COMES TO THE CARDINAL AXIS - WHERE IT WILL REMAIN FOR MANY MONTHS
+ MARS PLUTO + MOON JUPITER

Things are about to get (even more) weird...

URANUS NEPTUNE = cardinal axis. This pair will move into within a half degree contra-antiscion at the end of this month, and will remain in exact contra-antiscia for the rest of this season (spring, in the northern hemisphere) and for much the summer (as well as spring, fall and winter of 2016). That means Uranus, the planet of tension, excitement, innovation, and all things electrifying, is moving into the exact shadow point of Neptune, a planet of fantasy, impressionability, reception, and sometimes dissolution or chaos.

From my perspective, (at its best) this has METAPHYSICS, intensified discourse about death or alternate states of consciousness, shadow work, and the 'underworld' (or otherworld) written all over it. And that could be a very good thing.

This planetary pair will be active for everyone since it is happening on the cardinal axis, i.e., symmetrical to the Aries point. But it may be even more pronounced or meaningful for you if you have personal planets on the cardinal axis or in antiscia. For directions on how to find these points in a chart, please see the Description page; or you can contact me for a mentoring session or consultation

Here are some excerpts on the UR NE pair from The Combination of Stellar Influences, by Reinhold Ebertin, and Alfred Witte's Rules for Planetary Pictures:

  • The elimination of the waking consciousness
  • + The development and growth of the sub-conscious powers or forces, inner vision, inner illumination and enlightenment, inspiration, idealism, an interest in spiritual subjects, religious problems, mysticism, art.
  • - Lacking control of the waking consciousness leads to want of clearness. Instability, lack of emotional balance, nervous sensitiveness, wrong ideas, one-sidedness.
  • Mystics, people engaged in psychical research, mediums.

(Ebertin)

  • Suddenly incapacitated. Unconsciousness. Checkmated. Transition into the beyond. Crisis. Dead persons. Revolution. Psychic.
  • - Aries point: Metaphysics. Occultism. Funerals. Cemeteries.

(Witte)

"religious problems"?... hmm

There was another long-standing combination like this on the axis during Occupy Wall Street.

January consists of mostly lunar antiscia and contra-antiscia links. There are only a handful of planetary connections, all of which occur with Saturn, seemingly apropos given the heavy Capricornian and Aquarian flavor this month.

To use the list of antiscia below, simply blend the meanings of planets in combination. For help with interpretation, refer to a book like The Combination of Stellar Influences by Reinhold Ebertin, or an online source like this one by John Sandbach

ANTISCIA Dec/2014

What John Sandbach says about the Jupiter/Saturn midpoint:

Principle: Morality, meaning not only what one feels is generally good and bad, but your ideas about what is specifically good for you to do and what is bad for you. This pair rules assessments and judgments about how one should live one’s life. The pair also rules controlled growth, organized expansion, and discipline. Jupiter/Saturn signifies a need to proceed relatively slowly, and in a grounded fashion, so that progress is steady and as free of setbacks as possible. If Saturn exceeds Jupiter in energy then one may feel that progress is too slow, or too limited or frustrating, or that one’s enthusiasm is dampened. If Jupiter exceeds Saturn one may feel a lack of organization and/or stability on one’s progress.

Process: The integration of moral principles into one’s life. The finding of an harmonious and successful way to discipline oneself. The development of the ability to be discerning and critical and yet open, forgiving and accepting at the same time.

Love isn’t a state of perfect caring. It is an active noun like struggle. To love someone is to strive to accept that person exactly the way he or she is, right here and now.

The band-aid was ripped off last month and the startling insights, revelation, and disquiet that surfaced then lingers on in May. But it's okay. It's a bittersweet month.

Uranus and Chiron remain in contra-antiscia at the start of the month, and Venus joins the picture, coming to their midpoint (the Aries point) on May 2nd. This occurs at the same time Mercury perfects in opposition to Saturn. Then, on the 13th and 14th, Mercury is antiscia Jupiter while Venus comes to the contra-antiscion of Chiron. (Charts above). Sounds like highly original and exquisitely somber poetry, art, and music... Make some.

Also on the 14th: a full moon @ 24 Scorpio. Where does Scorpio fall in your chart?

Mercury Pluto gives you the extra focus (or, relentless fixation and compulsion) to get the [aforementioned] masterpiece right, right? And Venus Neptune, a marvelous time to display it. With Mercury at the solstice point: the feedback you seek. And Sun Jupiter, at the end of the month, following a new moon @ 8 Gemini: a feeling of accomplishment and success.

  • Those with a (c) indicate contra-antiscia - a symmetrical arrangement around the Aries/Libra axis.

ANTISCIA Feb/2014

[Coming soon] : sign up to have antiscia emailed to you at the beginning of each month (here).

Planets in antiscia and contra-antiscia reflect each other across the cardinal axis. The cardinal axis (sometimes called the Aries Point) is essentially the node of the Sun and is a point we all share. It is the intersection of two Great Circles: the ecliptic, which is the sun's path (the tropical zodiac), and the earth's equator. A planetary pair is formed when planets connect by reflecting one another across the cardinal axis. Like the planetary statement made by two planets in aspect or conjunction, planets in antiscia make a terrestrial (or mundane) statement: a statement for the world. Therefore, planetary pairs can provide insight into the energy of the day, as well as enriching natal and dynamic chart delineation. More on antiscia here...

To use the list below, simply blend the meanings of the planets in combination.

ANTISCIA Dec/2013

Planets in antiscia and contra-antiscia reflect one another across the cardinal axis. The cardinal axis (sometimes called the Aries Point) is essentially the node of the Sun and is a point we all share. It is the intersection of two Great Circles: the ecliptic (the sun's path = our zodiac) and the earth's equator. A planetary pair is formed when planets connect across the cardinal axis. Like pairs formed by planets in aspect or in conjunction, planets in antiscia make a terrestrial (or mundane) statement. Therefore, planetary pairs provide insight into the energy of the day, as well as enriching natal and dynamic chart delineation. More on antiscia here...

To use the list below, simply blend the meanings of the planets in combination.

  • The date[s] the pair is formed is LEFT - the day & time it perfects is RIGHT.
  • Bold dates indicate a particular planetary expression is exact (within 10 minutes of arc).
  • Dates showing one planet indicate its ingress onto the cardinal axis (meaning it's at zero cardinal or fifteen degrees fixed (midpoint), and ought to feature prominently that day).
  • Those with a (c) indicate contra-antiscia - a symmetrical arrangement around the Aries/Libra axis.

Dec 1 - Sun Jupiter contra-antiscion (like Jimi Hendrix)

December 7 - when Mars comes to the cardinal axis, i.e. it enters Libra - I will be offering a free webinar on antiscia through Kepler College. (You don't have to be present to attend! As long as you register you will receive a recording of the presentation.) Being a Mars-y type I'm excited for energy of the day, especially as Mercury is also applying in antiscion with Venus. This is a midpoint structure, or planetary picture, btw, while at the same time being on the cardinal axis :
Mercury + Venus = Aries | Mars
From Ebertin's The Combination of Stellar Influences -- "aesthetic aspirations or wishes, creative energy, an appreciation of practical art and of utility-objects made artistically. . A utility-artist. . ." Mars loves machines and technique, Mercury Venus supports creative communication. Sounds good to me!
Hope you can join me.
